Michel Pérez Pollo
The Fondation Brownstone proudly presented a solo exhibition of Cuban artist Michel Pérez Pollo, known for his singular approach to painting that navigates the delicate line between abstraction and figuration.

Pérez Pollo’s works often depict ambiguous, sculptural forms—isolated figures, objects, or invented structures—floating against luminous, undefined backgrounds. His canvases act like psychological stages where the visible world dissolves into shadows, textures, and volumes, evoking both intimacy and unease.

At the Brownstone Foundation, this body of work offered visitors a quiet yet powerful reflection on vulnerability, isolation, and the fragile status of the individual. Through a language that is both stark and poetic, Pérez Pollo reimagines human presence as something timeless and unresolved—an image constantly shifting between the material and the imaginary.

Michel Pérez Pollo
Cuban contemporary artist
Michel Pérez Pollo (born 1981 in Manzanillo, Cuba) is a leading figure in contemporary Cuban painting known for his bold, abstract‑figurative style. Educated at the Escuela Profesional de Artes Plásticas de Holguín (1999) and the Instituto Superior de Arte in Havana (2007), Pérez Pollo practices by first creating small-scale models—crafted from clay, found objects, or recycled materials—which he arranges, photographs, and then translates into richly textured, larger‑than‑life canvases . His work, often inspired by themes of memory, nature and Cuban seasons, channels metaphysical and humanistic narratives—seen in series such as “Un Otoño,” “Perfume” and his recent New York “Bolero”—which feature biomorphic forms set against luminous, sculptural planes .
