Brownstone Foundation was founded in 1999 by Gilbert Brownstone, with the purpose of supporting, accompanying and promoting social initiatives in favour of cultural enhancement and eduction of people. Since 2025, the Association NOEMI took over the activities of Brownstone Foundation.
about the founder - Gilbert Brownstone
Gilbert Brownstone is a contemporary art curator and philanthropist. His journey began while designing and curating exhibitions in Contemporary Art section for Museé d’Art Moderne de Parispassionate by artists such as Shusaku Arakawa, Andy Warhol, Lucio Fontana, among others. Later on, Brownstone was appointed as a director of the Museé Picasso and as a curator of the Israel Museum in Jerusalem. Driven by a personal experience with running commercial art gallery “Brownstone & Cie” in 1982s, he founded Brownstone Foundation in order to promote social justice through culture.
